We are proud to announce that this year the club will be opening it’s doors on Christmas Day between 10.00-13.00, to provide breakfast and activities to those who may be spending Christmas alone.
As a club for all, with a community focus, this is our way of giving back to the people of Tameside this Christmas, we believe that football clubs have an obligation to be of benefit to the local community and this initiative demonstates that this obligation is ongoing all year round.
Andy Cheshire, Community Development Manager, commented: ” Football clubs rely on the support of the local community throughout the year. By opening our doors this Christmas, we hope to engage with the most vulnerable in our community – provide a cooked meal and also enjoy some laughs along the way.”
“Our Nash Bar will provide pub games like darts, pool, cards, dominos and our function suite will have the usual Christmas music as well as the opportunity to watch a Christmas movie, have a blether with some of the volunteers, or simply relax in a nice warm atmosphere. Everyone is welcome.”
We are looking for a range of volunteers who can help make the day as successful as we hope it will be!
- 1 Volunteer driver (with own transport) to bring people to and from the Tameside Stadium.
- 2 Volunteers to assist with delivering games and activities.
We hope to have around 50 people visiting the club on Christmas Day, and would love to provide them with a christmas gift, therefore any donations are welcome.
Donation Ideas: Gloves, hats, socks, toiletries etc.
This initiative is supported by local organisations Infinity Initiatives & Ambition for Ageing.
