Tameside Council have recently announced a partnership with MADE (a joint venture between Barratt Redrow, Homes England and Lloyds Banking Group) to create one of the largest residential developments in Greater Manchester. This is a very exciting project as it is the first deal for MADE since its formation in September.
Where is it situated?
The development will be to the north of Mottram Old Road, the east of Hyde.

What is the development?
Approximately 2,150 homes will be created over the 16-year scheme, with 15% of properties allocated for affordable housing, with a mixture of rent and ownership available.
As well as housing, there are plans to build shops, hospitality venues, financial and professional services, indoor sports facilities and more. This is anticipated to not only create a vibrant and active community, but create jobs and apprenticeships across a wide range of sectors. Tameside Council plans to work with local schools, ensuring young people across the region have access to the employment opportunities Godley Green will create.
What is the ethos?
Godley Green Garden Village aims to be recognised as a “national and international example of modern placemaking”. A combination of town and country, the development aims to embody modern rural living.
Focussing on sustainable living, efficiency and community, Godley Green aims to provide the best possible outcomes for it’s residents.
Future plans?
The project is at very early stages, so those interested in Godley Green’s development should keep an eye out for updates.

Stephen Kinsella, board member for MADE states “Godley Green Garden Village is a development of regional significance and MADE Partnership is really excited to be working with Tameside Council to deliver its ambitious plans for the site.”
We appreciate that for some this is an exciting project and opportunity for Tameside, but for others this project may not be the development you want for your area.
